Overview

The winter season of 2023 has been all about exploring ski touring options on the eastern side of the Cascades, primarily around the Lake Chelan area. While I have done some ski touring in the past around Leavenworth and off of Highway 20 after the spring opening, most of this area is completely new to me. I wasn't sure what to expect around Chelan, with its sporadic snowpack and limited information online. Fortunately for me, we had consistent snow, with locals telling me this was one of the more snowy winters in the past 20 years, and I have been able to get out for various tours around the lake. Now that the snow is melting, it's off to other environs for my snow fix, and then onto hiking and mountain biking!
